Hopper 0.2.0: three-finger gestures and What's New

The Hopper team1 min read

Hopper 0.2.0 is the first update since Hopper’s first public release. Three things lead it: a new way to open any command, a place to see what changed, and one key to an agent’s pull requests and tickets.

Give any command a three-finger click

Hopper 0.2.0 adds two trackpad gestures, 3-Finger Click and 3-Finger Tap. Pick either one for any command in Settings ▸ Shortcuts, beside double-tap gestures like ⌘⌘. Open Search with a three-finger click, for example. None is set until you choose one, and like the other gestures it needs Accessibility. More on Hopper’s keys and gestures: Hotkeys & Gestures.

See what changed in each version

Type “what’s new” or “changelog” in Search to open What’s New: every version’s changes, newest first, with the details beside the list. After an update, the bar under Search tells you what’s new until you’ve looked. The same notes are on the changelog.

One key to an agent’s pull requests and tickets

Press → on an agent, a work item or a pull request for Search Related: an agent’s pull requests and tickets, a work item’s pull request, the agent that made a pull request. It’s also in ⌘K, right under Open, with every row’s other actions. More on Search and Agents.

Also in this release

  • When a list needs a sign-in or a setting, it shows one row that says what’s wrong and takes you there.
  • GitHub Repositories shows repos transferred into an organization without waiting an hour.

Questions people ask

How do I update Hopper to 0.2.0?

Choose Check for Updates… from Hopper's menu bar item, or open Settings ▸ About ▸ Updates. Hopper also checks once a day and asks before installing.

Do the three-finger gestures change my trackpad's clicks?

Only once you set one: none is set until you choose it in Settings ▸ Shortcuts. A click that isn't exactly three fingers goes to your apps as usual.
